I still remember my first day in Decathlon Sarjapura as a security guard – 17th March, 2011. The first three months I never went into the store. My manager told me that I had to know English and unfortunately I was not fluent with it.
So I spent time off work to learn the language. After a few months I approached for the job of a workshop technician. I got through and bagged the job on December 2011. I had overcome my first obstacle of having to learn a new language and work up courage to face customers, and this was only the beginning.
I am passionate about repair and maintenance of bikes and I love my job at the workshop. Today I manage the cycling workshop department at Decathlon Mysore Road.
I learnt by observing and learning from my teammates. Every obstacle was a challenge and a pit stop for me to learn a little more. One of the best things about Decathlon is that almost everybody goes out of their way to help you learn.
I believe we all have to dream, and our dreams will change our lives.
