I bought these 70’s bellbottom Levi’s over 25 years ago! They were vintage when I bought them secondhand in a resale shop in Tulsa. I loved them then for their original detail and the stories I envisioned they had lived long before I bought them. I am sure they danced carefree late into the night to disco! In the last photo from the 90’s, I chose to wear them to a special Vogue sitting with Annie Leibovitz. Here I’m pictured with my friends and I’m sure we also danced way into the night to some 90’s grunge and rap. Now in 2020 I’m squeezing myself (it wasn’t easy 😂) back into one of my favorite Levi’s to talk about the real value of secondhand.
Taking responsibility for the lifecycle of our clothes. Buy less, buy responsibly, and get more from what we already have. Levi’s has its Tailor Shops, Levi’s Authorized Vintage, and now they are taking back Levi’s jeans and trucker jackets SecondHand which saves about (FPO) 90% of CO2 emissions and (FPO)95% of water use compared to buying new denim. If an item can’t be resold, they recycle it to make all sorts of things.
If everyone bought one used item instead of a new product this year, we would save 5.7 billion pounds of carbon emissions, 25 billion gallons of water and 449 million pounds of waste. Join me today live at 1:30 PDT on @levis #secondhand live with @padillinger to talk about the circularity happening at Levi’s and the joy of making a better world for all. 💙💃🏻🕺🏻 #LevisSecondHand
