Last time I was here, I was 15 and at a very low point in my life. I came out to California for a quick visit to escape my crazy life in New York and my family surprised me with a trip here, The Flower Fields. I remember being completely mesmerized by the colors and in awe of how expansive the fields were. For a moment, I was able to get out of my head, breathe, and feel hopeful, because I was reminded of what a beautiful world we live in. 12 years later, I’m back here again and it’s come full circle. Everything in my life has changed for the better —— if only my 15-year-old self could see me now. More than this being an incredible first trip since the pandemic began, this experience gave me the closure I didn’t know I needed and a reminder to be grateful for everything in my life today.
